Terms of Use
Last updated: 9 November 2025
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the PilotCV desktop application, website, and related services (the “Service”). By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Ownership
The Service is owned and operated by PilotCV. All rights, title, and interest in the software, website, and associated materials remain the property of PilotCV.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old or have legal capacity in your country of residence.
3. Licence and Use
Upon payment of the applicable once-off fee, you are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the PilotCV application on your own computer for your personal CV/cover-letter production.
- One licence = one natural person user.
- You may not resell, share, or distribute your licence token or the application.
- You may not use a personal licence to produce CVs for third parties as a service.
- Reverse engineering, modification, or circumvention of the licence system is prohibited.
4. Fair Use & Anti-Resale
To protect legitimate users, PilotCV monitors export activity (see Privacy Policy) to identify obvious commercial use under a personal licence—for example, high volumes or many different names exported from the same licence. Reasonable personal use includes updates to your own documents over time.
If we reasonably suspect commercial use on a personal licence, we will contact you with a warning and the option to upgrade to a business licence. Repeat or egregious violations may result in licence suspension or revocation.
5. Business / Commercial Use
If you create CVs for clients (e.g., coaching, recruiting, resume writing), you must use an appropriate commercial/business licence (pricing available on request). Business licences permit client work and may remove certain personal-licence limits/footers.
6. Payment and Activation
Purchases are processed securely through PayFast. After payment, a licence token is issued to unlock the software.
7. Refund Policy
All sales are final. You can evaluate the software before purchase. Refunds will not be issued once a licence has been generated and delivered.
8. User Content
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter into PilotCV. PilotCV is not responsible for any inaccuracies or omissions in generated output.
9. AI-Generated Content
AI features may propose text. Outputs can contain errors. You must review and edit all content before use.
10. Third-Party Services
The Service may integrate with third-party providers (e.g., PayFast and email). Availability and performance of third-party services are outside PilotCV’s control.
11. Monitoring & Enforcement
To prevent abuse and maintain service quality, PilotCV records minimal export activity telemetry (e.g., licence key, the name and email placed on exported documents, timestamp, app version, and a non-precise IP). See the Privacy Policy for details. Suspected abuse triggers a two-step approach: (1) warning and guidance; (2) suspension or revocation on repeat or egregious violations. Revoked licences are not refunded.
12. Support

13. Privacy
See our Privacy Policy to learn what we collect (very little), how we use it, and your choices.
14. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the Service will be error-free or uninterrupted.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PilotCV will not be liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising out of your use of the Service.
16. Updates to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will always be posted here with the updated date above.
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. You are responsible for compliance with local laws where you use the Service.
